Jeremiah 29:11

I bumped into a facebook photo of a friend with a caption “Jeremiah 29:11.” I clicked the like button and chose the heart icon. I didn’t really know what the verse really says, I just hit the like button because I was amazed by what’s in the photo. It showed how far my friend has come, and of how much he’s achieved in life. I thought that maybe the caption has something to do with what’s in there. (Well, of course! Hahaha!) So, I googled Jeremiah 29:11. It says: “`For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Wow! This is so timely. I badly need this verse. Lately, I feel like I’m losing battles. I’m certain that my life has turned up this way because I’ve made a lot of wrong decisions. I could have chosen and done this and that! (Blah, blah, blah!) I have plenty of regrets. And there are times when the idea of quitting keeps on resonating in my mind. Should I just stop here?! Is it all worth it to continue?! How can I gain back the years that I’ve wasted? Although these thoughts keep on appearing in my mind, yet I’m still not convinced that I should stop. I still have high hopes that tomorrow will be better. And this verse is an affirmation to that. I believe in God! And I’m very vocal about it even to my agnostic friends. If I truly believe and trust Him, then I should stop worrying. All I need to do is to work hard and enjoy every moment. I should seize every experience, it may not be 100% joy and happiness, yet each has corresponding lessons to impart on me. I can use them as a stepping stone so that I can conquer much harder battles in the future. So, the takeaway from this verse is that I have a BIG GOD and HE’s got BIG PLANS for me. Can I get an AMEN?! AMEN!

I want to end this day with a prayer. Dear God! I just want to thank you for reminding me again that I’ve got a big God, a God bigger than my problems, trials and failures. There may be plenty of times that I get scared because of the fear of defeat, but You’ve never failed to console and comfort me. You’ve constantly reassured me that You’ve always got my back. My only prayer, Lord, is to have a complete trust in You. May I always lean towards Your plans for me. My plans are what I want for myself. Most of them are motivated by pride, arrogance and selfishness. But I know, Lord, that Yours are to prosper me in terms of humility, service and satisfaction. Please keep me in good health, both physically, mentally and spiritually, that I may be able to fulfill all Your plans. Above all, I pray that may You constantly help me to overcome the temptation of laziness so that I will be able to maximize the talents You've given me. All of these I ask in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
